Ok.. so I get a phone call from the wife saying she had a surprise for me in the acclimation tank. (we run a 55gal for new comers and time outs that is the exact parameters as our big tank) Now in our big tank we have all African Mbunas.

I get home.. and find 2 Jack Dempseys. :WHOA:

I love the fish but I'm not so sure about mixing them into our main tank. My wife doesn't know the differences she just goes by pretty colors. :nilly:

She said she paid $25 total for both of them. I'm watching curiously to see how the Africans like them or how the CAs like the Africans :popcorn:
 
oh my that's not a good mix in the long run...definitely separate the africans from the dempseys or take the dempsey's back all together and tell the wife that its the thought that counts lol
 
so far the Mbunas are scared of the big guy.. my buddy will be home at 6pm EST and they're goin' over there.

Funny cuz I thought about switching to CA or SA cichlids last week.. maybe my wife is telling me she's tired of the Africans.
 
She does rock. I'm glad they're in another tank. The large Jack was trying to beat up the smaller one and he was eyeing some of the Mbunas. Nasty buggers they are. She went and bought me a few more labs and Blue Zebras while I was over there :D

(sometimes they are anyway) :)
