I just moved am still getting settled in. I have not moved my tanks over to my new place yet because I have not setup an area yet.

I uesd to have an 60 gallon with 4 jack dempsys and 1 fire mouth and 1 pleco. Now I have 2 jacks and 1 pleco. The 2 jacks have killed the other fish. :WHOA: I didnt even know the 2 had become a pair.

I know I am a horrible owner. I am sad about the loss of the 2 dempsys and 1 Firemouth. But I had no idea why they died. I came home and found the 2 dempsys dea, so i did a water change. Thinking it was poor water quality. Now I find babies and a dead firemouth.

I wasnt home to watch them or I would have moved them.

I know I am terrible person. But now I have hundreds of babies and I need as much info on how to care for them. :nilly:

will post pics. I now live about 24 min away. I am not planning on moving the 60 gallon until the Babies get a little bigger.

any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have some pics and will try to put them on tomorrow. I am just amazed by the parents. They have totally darkened and are only letting the babies on one side of the tank.

Should I get the Pleco out? I am still reading.

I'm not sure why you feel bad; you weren't in a position to know what the pair was up to, and as you noted, the deaths always happened while you were out. it's not your fault, it's just cichlids being cichlids

the good news is, you have a breeding pair of JDs . . . now you just have to decide what to do about it

note: surprised the pleco didn't eat the eggs, those must be two very good parents you have there . . .
