I got two jacks and one is in a 135 and the other in a 50.The one in the 135 is about 5in and still brown.The one in the 50 is 3.5in and is almost black and has yellow at the end of the top fin and bottom fin.The 5in one has no yellow on the top or bottom fin.so is that how you tell if its a boy or girl?????

Males shouldn't have any blue on there lower gill plate, the females should have alot more blue on the gill plate. Here is a pic of my pair, male is in front and female in back. I hope that helps.
Sweet photo syclone. If there is any blue on the bottom half and it's very little and looks like the usual small spots it could be a boy. The blue on the bottom half of a female is not usually in little dots, but larger blotches or patches. Very obvious, like on the above posted pic. If you're unsure of yours you should post a pic. At that size I am sure that someone like syclone, myself, or other JD fans would be able to tell ya for sure what you have.

Nice JDs guys! Is that color in the gill plate thing true for the EBJDs? or is that only for the regular ones?
