So last week I had a huge hawiian luau party at my house. I meet this guy who was downstairs checking out my fish tank. He said nice Oscars you have there! I said hey, you know your fish huh? He was like, yea I have a few fish tanks that im about to throw away, just tired of the hobby and maintaining them.
I told him I would take them off of his hands.
2 days go by and I call him up to get directions and he told me to bring a truck.
I borrowed my friends blazer. So we get to his house and holly cow, in his dining room he had 13 tank, a couple in the living room, and another 10 in the garage.
The ones in the house still had water and fish in them. The tanks were about a quarter full and had never had a water change in the many years of him "being in the hobby!" The water was near black. It was disgusting and very sad. It amazed me that there were still fish alive and a bunch of them. He said you can take them all and do what you want with them. He was about to throw them the tanks away!
I had to take the fish. About 40 goldfish, one of the goldfish is like the size of my hand 7''+. I had never seen one that big in my life! There was also 2 plecos about 6"-7" One looked like a sailfin and the other was a common.
So, I took what the blazer would hold. I still have not checked the exact gallonage of them just yet. I would guess the largest one a 75g, two 40g, two 35g, and two 10g. I still have to go back and get a lot more. To be picked up-- two to three 55g, four 45g, like three to four 30-35g and a few more hiding in his garage.
All these tanks came with decor, lights, filters, hoods, gravel. The only downfall is no stands for any of them.
Oh well I guess you cant beat a bunch of free fish tanks right? I should have enough to start a fish store! God know my parents will not go for all these fish tanks! They think my 150g, 35g, and 30g is enough as it is. I cant wait to see the look in their eyes when they see this!
Anyways I just wanted to share my little story with you all.
After I get all the tanks I will take lots of pics and place them on this thread.
