When I got my 125 gallon in Lincoln a couple of months ago it didn't have a stand either. So, I just used cinder blocks with a piece of wood on top of the blocks and set the tank on top. It isn't the prettiest site but doesn't look bad either. My plan is to eventually get some fabric and staple it to the front and sides of the piece of wood to kinda make a skirt to hide all the cords and such.
Go with the cinder block idea, it is sturdy enough to hold the weight.

wow! thats so awsome! i cant believe the guy had that many tanks and was just going to throw them away. i think an african tank would be cool for the 75. for a 55 i always wanted to to an angel fish and discus tank.
great find!
