Ok, I had posted in the general area about trying to make my 55 into a brackish tank. After realizing my plans wouldn't work I thought I'd go a different direction.
I was going to take my Africans out of the 55g and move them to a 75g, after thinking about things I really would like to make the 75g into a CA tank.
I love the Jack dempsey's, Severums and the firemouths. Is there any way to make this tank work with these? If so how can I make it work.
Added thought is Bichirds any suggestions on them, can they work in this tank?
I really do not know much about any of these, I just know I like them all very much. I know I will need lots of rockwork, driftwood and plants. I have read it is a good idea to change the set-up often so they are not really able to establish territories.

Thanks in advance,
Gin

FM and JD should work not too sure about the severum and bichirds. Heard that severum aren't aggressive so it may get beat up by JD and FM

its only best to only move things around when you add new fish not when they are all in there they can establish territories with in seconds i seen a gold saum go into a tank and take a salvinis territory with in 30 seconds. why not go with JD pair of FMS and pair of CONS.?

Sevs get pretty big. I personally would use the 75 for just 2 sevs and *maybe* one other fish. Personality wise, I have had the combo you have work fine. Sevs aren't normally aggressive, but can hold their own. I have had my 2 with a female jag and they were fine, they just outgrew the tank. All depends on the fish really

Ok, so if I got with the Sevs then just a pair, and possible JD or Firemouth.

Or 1 JD, pair of FM and pair of Con's. Hmmm, I think I like this combo. I LOVE the Sev's but if that is pretty much all I can put in the tank I think I would lean more toward the other.
BTW, this 75 is an odd size it is 60" x 13" instead of the standard 48"x ?. I didn't know this when I bought it and they guy brought it over and dropped it off w/ my husband while I was at work, needless to say I was rather surprised...but deal was done nothing really I could do. I gained quite a bit of length but only an inch width.
Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Also would I be able to add any Bichirs to this??

Thank you for the replys too.

Oh sorry, guess I missed the part in there about the bichirds, they would not work out then.
Thank you!

I think a pair of sevs, a pair of FMs, and a bichir would work. I kept a couple bichirs with a pair of sevs in a 55gal till the sevs outgrew it. I wouldnt add a JD tho cuz they might outgrow a 75 and they could possibly be too aggresive. But i u do endup adding a JD. add it last so it less likely to try and dominate the tank. those r my thoughts on it. let us know wut u end up gettin.

Oh, I will. Like I said right now I am just tossing around ideas at this point. I am still waiting on a stand before I can even set it up. These are just what I am looking at, I have to look around and see what I can find in my area..the closes LFS is about 45 min away (besides Wal-Mart) and I wouldn't concider them a LFS. Once I make my mind up though, if I can't find what I am looking for I am willing to look online at breeders.

Thanks for your input, any and all suggestions are welcome! Ya never know what you suggest could be my OMG...THATS PERFECT!!!

This is just not true....Changing the decor can be done while fish are in the tank, and is in no way "UN" recommended by anyone. I change at least 1 tank a month it seems like...

yes but you dont get my point.. she said so they dont develpo territories??? well i was saying you can move it round all you like and they will still make them, i think you will have to be constantly moving things litteraly every minute to not get any territories...?
