Well,

First time breedin my Jack D's I am still working on getting the temp down to 79-80. For some odd it is stuck at 82!! I have seen them breed before but the conditions were different, like 100 gallons different. I am still working on getting the 55 set up to specs, that i would expect them to drop eggs :) So this is going to be my Journal..

Day-1

Working on temp lowering to 79 F and thinking rock and hiding needs some restructure. :)Wish me luck and tomorrow i will update:)

Good luck.

Maybe try a water change with cooler water. Lower your nitrates and temp at the same time.

Ya i am going to do that next. The other conditions are good. Ni, am and other test i did came back excellent.. They are showing behavior but the water is warm.. So i am going to take that suggestion and bring in some slightly cooler water .. Thanks.

I never meant they were high, it is just a preventative measure. But it will bring in cooler temps while keeping your fish healthy. I do the same if I need to raise or lower temps. Its easier to add hotter/colder water to raise/lower the temp than to fool with heaters that could malfunction and kill fish when raising or lowering temps significantly.

Y a i caught that :)

Day 2

Achievede 79 F.:)

Day 3

Added more cover Lace rock.. For terittory establishment. They took to it right away :)

Very interesting thread. Best of Luck!!:)

Day-4 & 5

THey have taken to the rock and are still palled up. No signs of eggs.. It might still ber a few weeks as it wasn't to long ago that they had a batch:) Temp dropped tp 77 ooops raising it to 79 again:)

Keep a good record of the "goings on". It's owner experiences and documentation like this I love to read-beat the non-owner opinion and hearsay which is rampant on the internet.

How bout posting some tank set up pics? That way we can see the changes.
