Jag advice please!

That does look like a male/female combination. Aggression COULD abate a bit with time. THe problem is that you never know when it is going to flare up again. That is an excellent size aquarium for breeding. If you can resist the urge to put in additional fish, you should get them to breed since it appears they are attempting to pair bond. My advice would be to ge a divider now, and cut holes so they can go back and forth. Eventually the male will become larger than the female and not be able to make the trip back and forth. While they are still small you could put in a few smaller target fish...like fast swimming Danios or Metynsis.

Thankyou for reply,I was hoping you would see this and reply.I definitely won't be adding anymore fish so they will have the whole tank to themselves. That is a good idea about the danios though I will try that. What are the indicators that they are trying to pair up?Sorry if these are dumb questions..They have settled a bit since this morning although the female will try and lock lips if they meet head on..they also swim around in circles occasionally as if chasing each other..Would my tank (5x2x2) do them for life if its only them in there?..or will they need a bigger one eventually..Thanks again Mojo.:cool-1:

Try to use an egg crate divider from Home depot. Put a slate in the bottom for the female to lay eggs and hope for the male to fertelized it. Or try to removed the female for a day and re-arranged the decors and put her back. Sometimes she will calm down thinking it not her turf anymore.;)

That tank would be fine for the pair.

Good luck.

It becomes aggression when the male doesn't let up on the female (or vise versa). It's best to just give them a bolt hole in advance. That way they can get used to coming and going and not freak when it's too late.

i'd give that a try. move things around so she doesn't feel at home anymore and that should equalize things a bit. the lip locking and swimming around in circles sounds more like a mating/matching up ritual going on. just give it some time and keep an eye on them, things should turn out good.
