Jag advice please :-)

I do have a couple of terracotta pots either end of the tank with a few plants in the middle breaking up the line of sight and they have chosen a pot each. I'll keep an eye on them and if I notice aggression I'll take your advice and divide the tank. I have gravel in at the moment so think I'll leave it as it is so not to stress them. I've tried them with sinking hikari gold but they haven't taken them but they took some bloodworm. Thanks for ur input guys.

Probably best to keep them divided, as mentioned above. Otherwise one fish will surely dominate the other. It would be gamble housing a pair, could get lucky or not. I stay away from smaller grow out tanks(if possible), just feel it can lead to stunting in some species. Although only one month shouldn't be a problem. I raise compost worms for some of my livestock, easy to raise and my fish can't resist. I load my worm bins with pond plants(azolla, duckweed, salvinia, elgeria, Java moss, hyancinth, etc). They produce a ton of worms. Just select the smaller sized worms for your juvies.

Would I be ok to try them with some small worms now?

Sure, if you can find compost worms/red wriggler or even a small earth worm. I do try to squeeze out the guts of earthworms(kind of messy) before feeding, to preserve water quality. They're actually considered a healthy and natural prey item for this fish(according to Louiselle). Of course try to vary diet. Typically these cichlids are easy to feed, if they are healthy, they'll be eating.
