Jag and dempsey protecting gar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
P.S the jag and JD probably will turn on the smaller gar soon, I've seen cichlids baby other fish; almost like preparing them for a meal. Sorry to be cynical.

uh-oh, there's an echo in here again :)

Those pics are just amazing though, I never saw anything like it before.....it wasn't just ONE pic and coincidence of where they were......they were like that for an extended period of time, long enough for several shots. They're like a pair of Imperial Guards on each side of the King who promises to be kinder and more fair than the current Tyrant lol

2 of my favorite cichlids, easily. JDs are just JDs to most people, but a big male can be pretty impressive like twhittle twhittle 's

That's so cool everyone always makes Dempseys out to be so mean but truthfully there one of the most docile fish I've ever owned.
Truthfully any I had hit 5 inches then decided everyone must die LOL
This is entirely dependent on what you keep them with. The other fish play a major role in how the JDs respond to stimuli. JDs should be kept similarly to Convicts and Jewels, as a "commensal" and neither of the 3 should be allowed to be a tank "Boss". By not keeping them with larger more aggressive fish they take over everything and kill dithers and bother bottom-feeders and dig up plants, etc. Some fish are just not meant to be the tank boss
