Jag and Oscar in a 75!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The cons are to small to have a "dither effect".

I'd get another 75 and put the jag in it alone.

No chance on another 75. I have a 55 empty but my parents don't want any more tanks. I'm goin to college in august 1800 miles from home.

I don't see the problem with the stock. People say that a 75 is fine for an oscar, so a jag the same size shouldn't have a problem. I believe that having 2 fish in this tank is fine as long as they get along. A little bit of lip locking has occured over the past few hours, but there are some convicts in there as dithers, so hopefully it works out. Otherwise I just put the eggcrate back in.
Good lord-are you sure you don't want to throw a common plec in there, too? lol J/K When they say a 75 g is adequate for an Oscar they don't mean you can put more than one 12"+ fish in there. It's a moot point anyway because I honestly don't believe they're going to get along.

In regards to stocking that tank, yes, putting 2 12 inch fish in there would be fine. So long as the fish have room to swim and a place to rest without being attacked, then its fine with me. My filtration and w/c schedule keeps the water clean. I stuff extra sponges in my HOBs for more bio filtration. I know what I'm doing, and I have no problem keeping two fish of this size in a 75.

report back in a week, if it works out that's great

I'll report back in a few days hopefully still successful. Anyways, its better than the stock that the prior owner of this tank had. There all in my avatar, in the tank, the pacu at 22 and 18 inches, and the oscar at 10.

Ive seen a jag with 3 oscars, a pleco and a pacu in a 90g and theyre all like 10"
I don't think that would last for long. It's hard to even just keep two oscars in a 90. Very bad advice
