You would be fine, just get a female jaguar. Female jag's rarely reach 12 inches. Do not worry about it. Make sure you pick the jag out carefully because they all have different personality's!

u guys make jas sound evil i have one that is peacfull with 12 other sa/ca cichlids in a 180 he is 10" the other fish range from 4-7" , but i have had an evil jag back in the day , just get the fish small buy like 6 cichlids for your 180 and buy like 3 small jags and keep the nicest one , trust me but there is sometimes that case where u have an evil fish but u guys make jags sound like dovvii
