Where Palm Trees Grow
I moved my Silver Aro to my 55g yesterday since I wanted him to have more room and I moved the convicts,HRP and Flowerhorn to the 30g to cut down aggression and make the stocks better in both tanks. So I go to sleep and wake up this morning and see no Silver Aro, If he jumped out I do not see his body and I've checked everywhere and there is no water around where he could have jumped, So I take a good look at the fish's behavior and see how large their stomachs are and it looks like my Jag is acting more high and mighty then normal and he looks fat, So we know what happened there. But what makes me angry is the Aro was the same size as the Jag but then I took into factor that they can extend their mouths 3". I will surely miss my Silver Aro he was my favorite fish, Maybe it was right to happen tho since I did not have the proper tank for him and got too excited when he was only $20. R.I.P :cry::cry:

sorry for your loss, but thats why we say small aros alone...i have had a 8" pbass eat 2x 7" silver aros at the same time...aros are easy to be eatten...now you know we are not kidding when we say these things over and over and over almost daily...

Yeah, I just thought that he would be fine since the only one that would pick on him was the FH and I moved him, But I was horribly wrong. Atleast I got one of the cheap ones tho, It's not like I spent $45 on him just $20

Just another example of why arowana should not be mixed with cichlids until the aro is 10-11" long, and twice the length of any cichlid. Hopefully someone else reading this will learn from your mistake.

you know no one will...tomarrow some one will ask about tankmates for their lil silver aro and if they can go with cichlids...it might slow up now that they aren't in every pets store...but still no one learns till it happens to them...

Yeah your probably right, worse is when you give someone advice and they choose to ignor it and go ahead and kill off the arowana anyways.:irked:
