jag changing eye color

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not uncommon for fishes eyes to change from something drab, and dull looking back to their original color and between. It usually happens with lighting situations like someone mentioned, but it's more of a result of darkness vs lightness not the actual light changing the colors. If you ever turn your lights on after they have been off and it's night time, you'll see what I mean.

Male: beautiful, large, won't lay eggs. Cons: aggression

Female: also pretty, don't get as large, not AS aggressive (unless eggs)
Cons: really bed when they lay eggs (I couldn't clean my tank)

all depends, they just have to pair =P. just leave them, my females don't really mess with anything in the tank, they just like to protect their territory. keep an eye on them if you start seeing damaged fins. males tend to be more aggressive during spawning to females that aren't interested in spawning yet. the pairing process usually works better in bigger numbers of fish and then you separate and sell non-paired or keep em like i do for the love of fish. chances are if they are the only female and male in the tank other than your silver dollars, they will try it when they hit maturity, which I'm sure your jd is already.

I have breed my JD with other female JD's before so I know he is breed able. Is it turns out female I will leave them be in the 75 but if it doesn't work out i'll move them to my 180. but yes, I keep them solely for the love of the fish :)
