Jag color & pattern change?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its normal to see with jags that they lose the barring pattern for more even spotting.I noticed yours has alot of red tinting, mine has more blue on his dorsal although this pic does not show it well. I dont think mine will lose his barring though, he's a little bigger than yours, here's a pic.

Kaianuanu - where did you get yours? Mine is very similar in color and markings. I measured him last week and he was 11". Some of his upper barring is breaking up but not all of it. Mines about 1.5yrs old. A friend said he may need to age a little more for the spots to break up completely. But, I don't think he will get the aztec markings I see on most jags...but he's my first so I have no idea really :nilly:I've been looking for info on their pattern changes too.

Yeah pattern changes are crazy. My jag definitely has more of the blue/teal on its dorsal and actually started showing darker bars recently. Its trying to mate with my carpintis.

That would be a sick hybrid! I wish i could get my male jag to mate w/ my female dempsey.

I got my jag from a store called pet bazaar in central FL. IDK where he was bred though.

I know someone that did that and it didn't turn out will. All the dorsels were deformed and the colors didn't look great but I think they were feeders by 1.5"

DEPENDING ON THE MOOD I SEE MY PAIR CHANGING PATTERNS ALL THE TIME. AS FAR AS THE BARRING MY MALES BROKE UP AS HE MATURED. I LOVE HIS SPOTTING NOW! NOW TO BULK HIM UP IF HE COULD EVER STOP BREEDING WITH MY FEMALE LOL...THEY ARE EXPECTING EGGS ANY DAY NOW.

my jags seem to hold there pattern which is diff to each one. both male.. i do notice the blue on the 2nd jag high up on its back and dorsal comes and goes though. jags are awesome.:headbang2
