Something to reference their size... those mag floats are 1 inch wide and 3 &1/2inches long..... Tried to use a ruler but they won't get close enough to it .... Most are little over an inch ...biggest one is at least 1.5 inches long.....

Very cool! A bit ahead of mine.. which just hatched 2-3 days.. They are so tiny they look like little tadpoles. (I knew they had eggs but not fry yet).. the whole thing was so fast. Im blown away. The only reason I eve found them was bc some (like a hundred, it seems) are under a little rock on the outside of the cave wall where she laid her eggs and with a flashlight,, I could see them moving around.

Im not sure how Im gonna handle this in terms of being able to keep however many (or not keep them) because of limited space.
I imagine they must be really difficult to get rid of bc they require such large aquariums/

Right now I have this pair in a 55L on their own. And they are fine.. happy and healthy but I plan on moving them into a 150
Even then, what do you do with all the extra fish?

Thanks.... sounds like they are developing and they are about to hit jag puberty so it may still work out for you...good luck...

I can't get the larger one to pose for pics, any time I get close it goes to its cave. It's moving here so pic is blurry. He/she seems to be slowly transitioning to a more spotted pattern and I'm hoping that it's male. It will chase around the oscar that's about it's size and the other fish from time to time, but so far is not overly aggressive.

Here is the smaller of the two, and I'm guessing female.

Congrats on the fry....as a word of caution be watchful of your tank in the coming days...your parental pair will become very aggressive when those fry become free swimmers after the next 5 days or so...they could continue and be excellent and raise their fry in harmony or they could become intolerant of each other and fight... that's why unless its a very large tank ( like 180+ gallons) many of those that have a breeding pair have a divider in or one handy to separate them if need be...don't really like it but it was a must for me to separate my pair both times they spawned a few days after the fry became free swimming...the first time (which was last year) the male took his aggression out on the female and if I did not use a divider I believe he would have killed her.The female then proceeded to eat the fry that went to her side..making the male try to attack her more so when he saw it happen..on this spawn the female had been nipping at the males fins throughout their spawning ritual and her aggression escalated to the point she was ripping the males fins daily...I didn't want her to damage him permanently so I divided...after that my fry numbers decreased from a couple hundred at least down to the 8 I am raising in a separate 75 gallon.. depending on how good of parents your pair are and how soon you will have have your 150 up will determine how many fry you will end with...I will be looking out for your posts ...

It does look to me that the larger one is male and the smaller female...time will tell....
