I was going to say the same about your one inch per month. Especially when you say "steady growth". That's a half inch per month.
Typically all fry will grow faster when smaller up till about an inch. This simply because of self preservation. In the wild smaller fish and in particular fry are eaten quickly. Growth from fry to adulthood depends on many factors...diet, body of water, water chemistry and even the fish itself.
Typically Parachromis type fish will produce thousands of fry. Not all of them grow at the same rate. If that happened there would be alot more of them and fewer of the other fish that they claim as food. So it's stands to reason that if one of the Managuense that you have in your tank is genetically programmed to be "bigger" then it will grow faster.
But there is no way you can slap a number on the fish. Suffice to say that it will grow bigger quicker from a half inch to three-four inches then slow down and fill out as it ages.
I'm sure you will have people volunteer growth records that are all over the board. I have eight Managuense in a number of tanks. The fish all grwo at different rates. The same holds true for the majority of Parachromis type fish.
