I just wanted to get some feed back on the time of AquaScaping you think should be in a tank w/ Jags. Currently I have lava rocks forming caves, which he loves.

But my question really comes from the different sites I have visited. One site says use rocky landscape, while the other says to use fake plants / drift wood / rocks. :screwy:

Any advice would be helpful...Thanks

Caves are good, plants and driftwood wont hurt.
Really I think its more what you want as long as it seems comfy:)
could you post a pic of what you have? maybe you can get some suggestions on how to make it better

rallysman is right, jags aren't going to be very picky. just give them gravel to spit around and whatever else you want to add. some type of hiding place cave type thing would probably be appreciated even if it isn't used all the time. just be sure that any large rocks are secured. you don't want any big rocks shifting when the jag moves the gravel around. :)

Any of those would be fine but I prefer caves and drift wood. I don't like fake plants. When I go for tank decor I try to make it as close to their natural habbitat as possible but thats just me.

as do I. however good luck keeping live plants with large new worlds such as jags. you'd have to have the plants secured down extremely well to keep from getting shredded when the jag redecorates his/her tank. :)

Don't Jags dig? Plants might not be good for them.

Thanks for all the help...I have attached 2 pics to see what I have in the tank...

wolf, the tank looks great. like I said before though just be sure those rocks are all secured down. the jag will start digging and if it takes a mouthful of gravel around the base of one of those rocks they may wind up shifting. you don't want one of the large rocks on top of the stack crashing down to the tank bottom (which may wind up being exposed once the jag has done some good digging. :)

I agree, Jags have huge mouths. They usually grab up a good load of gravel and spit it someplace else. Wolf, the jags in your tank look cool, I like the set up, but as they get bigger they'll be pushin that sh@t around easily. Also a few well secured fake plants would'nt look too bad in there. try some browns, to match the other decor. good luck!

use larger substrate....live medium to larger river rock....jag cant pick up as much at one time. my jag likes to pick up some of the larger pieces and then just drop them....guess he just wants to know how strong he is.
