Jags can get kind of crazy when their hormones are fired up. I have several pairs of jags that breed on a regular basis. A few of the pairs actually get along to raise and protect the fry. I have a couple other pairs that have some issues. The males enjoy the whole getting frisky deal, help guard the eggs for a few days, and then decide they want to eat all the damn eggs. The males are much bigger than their female mates. The females try their best to fend off the males, but the males are always successful in finding a quick meal of eggs.
Good luck with your male and enjoy watching him continue growing.
