you really do not think having a Oscar in a 40g tank is a good ideal do you? forget water perams. even if you do the every day water changes the poor fishes face is stuck in the glass no mater where it turns. This fish is not going to act normally and live a miserable life. just bad, just because you can does not mean you should.

Again, i said i wouldnt.

But you really think a 12" would be sooooo horribly off in a 3' by 1.5' (or 16? I always confuse that) i think it would be ok.

My opinion. Now, could we please drop this point?

we can here, I would not feel like i did not do my do diligence as a fish keeper if i do not say so. and yes I do, 12" fish has no place in a 3' by 1.5' tank.

folks are going to do what folks are going to do, I can suggest, or advise. in the end it can either be excepted or not, (Shrug) ultimately it is there fish, there tank and there call.

Again, i wont do this.

Why does every thread end up about tank size. Im posting about an unrelated sunject and youre moving it on to something else. I know what these fish NEED, and they dont NEED a big tank. They dont feel emotiona like us. They are based off of survival, and as long as they get that they dont really need anything else. Minimum tank size is based off of your feelings as a fish keeper, because we feel compassion.

And yea, i know youll all hate me for saying it. But to me they are pets. And they arent pets that get emotionally attached or need loving attention.

You say "oh, would you want to live in a closet your whole life?" No. But that is completly uncomparable. Humans have differeng mindsets that fiah. We are based off of a comfortable life just as much as survival, and fish are only thinking of survival.

This is why i really dislike forums. So much knowledge that gets lost based on tank size arguments... Or hybrids... Complete BS.

So, i will try again to ask nicely... Can we please go back to the original topic.

he is about 2" bigger now. fills the tank just fine, and quite the looker. the 95g needs no other fish. he is the tank, and one of my wet pets. :)

Thanks.

He looks nice! Only things is ive seen that Oscars dont always have the aggression that im looking for? I know they get very close to the owner for a fish, but do they have that aggression?

Like most of the Amphs get pretty interactive, or so ive heard. But they also have the glass-banger attitude.

Is there anything that makes you recommend an O over something else?

so, what aggression are you looking for? I have a large Oscar that bites the tank when I go near it, I have jags that flair when i go near the tank, I can stick my hand in the water with any of them and they move to the other side of the tank, just not sure what tyou asking as far as aggression. they all chomp the vacuum tube.

to me a fish that aint afraid to show he aint afraid of you, and more plant on the glass saying I see you, you going to feed me or you just wasting my time attitude is a fish I like.
