Hey MFK, I was looking at a bleeker but I was also thinking about raising a single Jag...they are just stunning fish but I have a couple questions about them.

1) are they big jumpers? do I need a rod iron gate over the tank to keep him in?

2) would one be able to live in a 90g? or would I really need a 125 in order to properly house him?

I have two jags and neither of them are jumpers. I don't think you would need a wrought iron top, just the regular glass lids should be fine.

Also, I would recommend a 125 if possible, but if it's just one I think a 90 would be ok.

i think a 90G would be ok. I have a few and they never attempted to jump. I've only had them for a year so... I have no top on my tank just a middle brace

i have a big old 13'' male and he is definitely not a jumper. but i think a 90 gallon is too small for a jag to be housed in for life. at least get a 125 but i also think that is not wide enough. best would be something with at least a foot print of 6' by 2' or bigger.

takes a jag along time to reach its full size as they really start to slow around 11 or 12 inches usually maxing out around 14-16 inches in aquaria. 90 bare minimum and 125 better.

They are not big jumpers. However, that does not rule out the possibility. Your tank top should be secure/sealed, no matter what kind of fish you keep.
90gal would be fine, but in the long run, it will probably kill everything. Going to be a 1 fish tank most likely.

thanks for all the pointers guys, and yea I picked up an 8 inch male today, he is totaly solo. I have some cash saved up and I am still putting more away bit by bit so when one of thos sweet deals on CL for a 180 or 200 pops up I can snag it and give him a big ol' crib with a squad of honkin clown loaches or somthing.
