So of course the internet says a bunch of different things. What's the bare minimum tank size you guys would keep a single parachromis in? Would a jag be able to live in a 75 or so by itself for a while? And, incidentally, has anyone kept polypterus with parachromis before?

Well...I had mine in a 75g. I ended up trading him in. Someone here has a picture of their 14" in a 75g. Looks way cramped. Most people would say 125g for a male and 75g for a female. I never kept Polys and Parachromis together before, so good luck with that one, but personally, I think that the Parachromis would be too aggressive, especially a Jag.

I was wondering about the poly/para mix, because most cichlids tend to ignore bottom dwellers. I've never seen a cichlid even look at a catfish before. At least not in my experience. . .

My Jag didn't like anyone. Oddly enough, he got along with an Oscar I had, but hated the JD with a passion, killed a Sail Fin Pleco and my Clarias Cat.

bump

anyone else? I'm not going to do anything stupid, just asking opinions for future reference.

Has anyone's jag gone after bottom dwellers? Just curious.

basically the same footprint of a 75. . .
