Jag tank size?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my jag has decided now he does not like anything in his domain, attacks anything that moves including, my syphon,me,malaysian trumet snails, tanks infested with the little buggers

i actually just bought 20 baby jags. after a week i brought a 4" pleco from the quarentine tank to theirs and they were fine at first with it. i checked after 10 minutes and all except 5 were staring at it. seriously like 1.2-3 " away. 20-30 minutes later the pleco was dead. the baby jags are still under 2.5" so u be the judge

it's more footprint size than anything. A 14-15" male jaguar in a 4'x18" (75-90) doesn't have alot of space to swim. a 6'x18" gives much more space it to thrive (125-150).

Females grow between 11-14" so they could be off fine in a 75 4'x18".

Are females just as aggressive as the males?

all my females was the aggressive ones, it was more often than not the females that would bully the males, apart from breeding time.

I had my breeding pair in a 75G for a long time, male 13inches - female 9inches, they had enough room but I did up grade as more room was nice 4 them to have, I up graded 2 a 120 bow front.

I'd say atleast a 120 gallon tank for a single jag, maybe even a pair.
they get a pretty decent size.

they don't really attack bottom dwellers from what i seen.
just any fish that attempts to thrive on their territory.

a single jag in a 75 is fine IMO, a 90 is even better. Thats with no tank mates EVER though.
:iagree: also jags with bottom dwellers... well its possible but i doubt it..
