Jag tank size?

Damned if you do, damned if you don,nt thread, in my world jag needs to be in a 125g or better. Just my humble opinion.

From personal experience jags seem to get longer than oscars and most medevils that I've seen. I think it's just sad to see big fish in short 4' tanks, they really can't do much more than float in place. I guess if you did a single female you could get away with a 75. However with how cheap you can score a used 125, I'd go that route.

I wouldn't even contemplate keeping a jag in a 75.Its a no brainer. Can you imagine what a dull crappy existance that would be.
If you can only go up to a 75, keep something firemouth sized. Why people feel the need to put fish as big as jags in these little tanks I will never know.

Ok. I accept that as your opinion, but i also feel that you are somewhat of an extremist in tank sizes. I mean, you say even a Con needs a 4' tank... When i think a 20 or 29 is fine.

The extremeist thing was only what ive seen from the recomendations you made for me, i dont mean to insult you or anything :) And if i had the opportunity for some big tanks like yours than im sure i would see out of your eyes more clearly!

that post duanes duanes made last night sure makes you think things through a bit more, don't it? lol

It's quite accurate though, I have also snorkeled with introduced Tilapia and Florida Native FW species, which also happened to include INVASIVE Plecos and the space a Tilapia will take-up in a few minutes of swimming is dozens of times if not hundreds of times more than the big 2-3ft. Plecostomus do

Once I max-out on Cichlids, I add catfish species to fill in the ecological niches that are empty afterwards.

I wouldn't call him an extremist. I have owned a male jag that was 18 to 19" which would be ridiculous in a 75g, not all get that size, but they certainly can.

Also, it really irks me when someone comes here asking for advice and then completely dismisses the majority opinion because its not what you want to hear.

I don't think he was expecting "negative results" from us lol.

By the way, stanz isn't an extremist. He's awesome. Don't pretend like his opinion is bad. I wish more people had the same opinions as him. If more people were a bit more "extreme" no one would keep defending the option of putting a fish that will likely reach 15" into a 75 gallon aquarium.
