well... i just got an 8 inch jag who is in a TEMP 60 gallon (long) which is 4 1/2feet... etc..... AGAIN DO NOT FLAME ME AS i AM WAITING FOR MY 180 which i will have enough for in a month or so.... basically what can i keep with him?
can i add a TRUE red terror? a school of fish? any advice on what to add would be nice... he is all alone as of now!
thanks in advance

it really depends on the jags aggression level

i have had jags that raise hell and others that arent aggressive at all

i would say my jag is in the middle.. he was with yellow labs for a week and had no issues!

Mine kills everything in the tank but is acting a surrogate mom/dad to some con fry that were supposed to be food :screwy:

Jags always seem to go native at some point and kill something off. I had the same scenario with the convict feeders. They ate all but two. These two convicts were fine for a couple months, till this morning. I woke up to one that was bit in half and another that was nearly dead.

They dont play well with others.

I would wait until you get the 180g and then you should be able to do a few fish in that tank. Until then the 60 is only good for the jag (temporary). I know it's hard to wait but a month will pass very quick.;)

a week's coexistance with something isn't much of an indicator, but in the 180 you have to try a fw probably as no fish has a predictable personality...I always try to do so as early as possible until the size difference gets too big

Well seeing how he is already 8" and has been housed solo tank mates may be an issue. I would first get that 180g up and cycled asap. Second go find a few cichlids of similar size and temperment. Then third add the jag after the other fish have settled in. But make sure to keep a close eye out.

all depends on your jags personality. you will have to do some trial and error. i got a 12-13 inch male jag with a 12-13'' blackbelt, 11'' synspilum, 8'' argentea. and a large pleco in a 180g. My jag just swims around and sheriffs the tank but never beats up on any fish. guess i got a mellow one.
