ok earlier i spoke about my 80gallon tank. Now if i got a jag could i put 2 or 3 convicts in there and maybe a pleco or would i have to have himm solo...
You're probably gonna want ur jag solo in that small of a tank...member that Jags get LARGE...my male was pushing 14".....that doesn't give you much more room to play around with in a 80gal tank. Although I did have my pair of jags in a 75 for over 7 months, so its doable....but not really recommended.
My pair of Jags is in a 120 and it's not really as big as they might like. I tried to keep a 10" pike in with them but the male wouldn't allow it...... heck he bites me if I put my hand in the tank without a glove.
in order for ajag toreach over 12 inchs it take in my exsperience way over a year. i got two jags right now. and had others. the biggest i had is just now pushin the 9 inch to ten inch mark in my buddies tank. and it goin on two years old or more now. I discoverd as long as your not trying to breed them in a 75 or 80 galo tank. and only add one jag then add other fish tomix it up can work out. but if you stick a pair in there your gonna have somne issues.
see its hard to say. how big is your jag right now/ Is he still small. and able to be grown out with others if he undeer 3 inchs i would get a midas polleni orsomethingtogowithit.just gottomakeshore what ever go in hasto be tuff just in case.
my 75 right now has the folowing with no real aggreasion issues.
2 jags
1 polleni sp hes been told stay in the corner
3 bichirs
1 african lungfish
1 pleco
and a comon wolf fish
Convics are rather fierce but they couldn't hold up to the size and power of a jag. I would keep it alone unless you could get a 120g or more tank then i would only put in one or two other large fish like a red terror or red devil.
