Could it work? looking for some more midwater action in my 180 and have wanted a severum for a long time. my tank is pretty stocked as it is all fish are small and would be looking to upgrade within next 2-3 years maybe sooner if i find a good deal. but would a severum work with a jag in my tank set up, in sig

trial and error, could it work- of course, will it work- mabey/mabey not. all fish are different with differen't aggresion tendencies, you may get a jag that won't touch it, or you may get one that's territorial. your best bet if you want to put less chances on aggresion issues would be to go with a female jaguar.

the only jaguars that i've seen that were major aggresive, between all males and females- were breeding pairs. in general every single male or female jaguar has not botherd tank mates for the most part. you never know though.

i already have the jag its small maybe 2-2.5 inches its colors are getting darker dont know sex. the jag occassionally chases the snook but thats about it. any other suggestions? would like a severum, jack dempsey would be female or a green terror

it is and will stay just one jag

jaguar will need to be 5-6" to have a very accurate sexing. you have a large assortement of bottom feeders and such, so i'd probably ease up on the stocklist after a your curren't stock is added.

I won't try it. Sev are too passive for the more aggressive Jag

it would just be one more fish i realize its heavily stocked but all bottom dwellers. the jag and two snook the only mid action. what would you add or would you

Psssssh yes. I have 2 severums in my 125. I have a male jag, and a bigger oscar that I call the buffer fish (buffers the aggression down in the entire tank by being pretty passive and large).

My smallest severum is the most aggressive fish in the tank. Go figure. He wins every liplock with the jag and scares him away from his territory.

Jags are pretty passive overall. They almost remind me of my snook. Both are about 7-8 inches and very personable, but not really mean to the other fish in the tank at all.

A lot of times I see jags that are glass bangers, but I think its more tank aggressive (you know like dogs that are cage aggressive, aggressive to the things outside when they are in the cage because they want to protect their cage) since I have had fish that don;t bang hte glass, but are much more aggressive inside the tank (convicts, red devils, salvini, bumblebee aurutus, ah that GD aurutus!).

Definitely give it a try, just make sure its got some size, maybe at least half the size of the jag.
