I picked myself up two 2" jags today hoping that one of them turn out to be male and i'll sell the other. They'll be going in my 90 gal with my 3" oscar, 2" firemouth, 3" blue acara, 3" jd and my 5" senegal bichir. Once they get a bit bigger they'll be moved to a 5x2x3 I have in the garage, just need to get a stand and hood built first. How long do I have before they need to be moved? Any idea when i'll be able to sex them? Also, my ph is around 6.6/6.8, will this be a problem? Thanks guys :)
 
Sexable at around 5-7 inches. I'd move them when the hit 5-6 inches cause that usually the point in which they become aggressive. Ph is fine and they may get eaten by the Oscar

Thanks Mike. Do they grow alot slower than the oscar? Would hate for them to be eaten..
 
I had a breeding pair I got from Jeff Rapps back in 2006 or 07 that I kept in a 75 for 2 years and then I traded them in to local pet store. They were full grown adults, the male was 11 in. and the female was 10". They can get bigger then that but like I said, they laid eggs once every other month in a 75 4x18 and did not out grow it. What are the dimensions of the 90?
 
Similar growth rate but Oscars are aggressive feeders and young Jags are shy. So it may outpace them then eat them.

My 90 is 48x21x21, paid £2.50 each for them so couldn't pass it up! Hopefully that won't happen, my oscar really is greedy though.. Suppose i'll just have to see how it goes.
