Hi I just got a jag he is about 7inchs but he is really shy and he won't eat I've tried blood worms pellets and flakes I see him swimming around with the other fish also but when I come he runs and hide I gusse my question is is this normal for him being a new fish??? And will he get more aggressive and lest shy

Try frozen blood worms and crickets. Jags usually don't show much interest in flakes.

if he is 7" he/she needs to be broke to jumbo quality pellets, I am a Aqueon fan but plenty others. the fish can go 3 weeks easily with out eating, healthy fish in a good tank and water quality will ussuly break around day 5 to 10.
quality pellet needs to be staple diet, once they chow them like a big dog can start feeding treats once a week or so.

Give him few days or a week then if he's a male you will see he start murdering his tank mates unless there are fishes bigger than him and bully him.
