alot of F1 Ancistrus temminckii BN's:headbang2

What is identified as A. temminckii in the aquarium trade and some hobby literature nowadays is possibly A sp. (3) but the true origins of that fish is pretty much unknown. The real A. temminckii may have shown up in the trade in the past, but isn't imported and i don't think there are any specimens known of.

know his stuff, new all the names of ever fish he had, said about there being
more types of BN, had the names of his fish on the tanks, dont no why he

he probably isn't fibbing. He is probably just a bit old school, and calls them temminickii that was at one point being the name given to what now is thought to be Ancistrus sp. '3', which is probably the most widely bred and commonly kept Ancistrus in the trade. But it has since been changed around in the descriptive part. Have a look on planetcatfish, they have more information on it. I'm just saying, he is calling a fish by the old loosely called name, which has since changed, because it isn't the fish that was originally described. And yes there are more species of BN. Over 60 species lol.

do you think he is incorrect about the "F1" bit then as-well?

well F1 just means they are captive bred, and the parents were from wild stock... I'd be suprised (well 100% suprised as i dont think they would be for a second) if they were wild, because on either accounts, they aren't imported from a region, just captive farmed. I could be wrong, someone might have there wires crossed in all this, there are a lot of very similar Ancistrus species. Maybe they are just "F1" for him.
