Well, did a water change again this afternoon @1pm....@4pm they where clearing and area up next to a peace of slate again and it was time to go get the camera....started laying eggs @5 and still going as I type (9:30)......this is the 3rd time they have breed  .....the funny thingis that the water is straight from the tap....all 55gals! They love it and all the numbers check out normal....love the water! :headbang2

Nice!. The problem Im having with my Jag Trio is the Females have paired up and beat up the male. Then both females will take turns leaving eggs and nothings furtilized! Damn Lesbian Jags.

If I was you I'd seperate one female and keep a pair and just move the male around to do his thing with each female from different tanks...if you got the room...

Congrats on your jags breeding. What water temp do you have your tank set at? My largest jag is a chunky female of about 8". I can tell that her ovaries are ready to burst. She dropped a few hundred eggs all by herself back in August. I came into work to find a few rocks all covered with eggs. I had to clean the unfertilized eggs off of the rocks. She went nuts and attacked my hand, drawing a little blood in the process. I have another jag that I believe is a male of about the same size. I am planning on adding the male to the female's tank on Monday in hopes of getting them to spawn.

Do you have any special tips or hints that could help me out?

Thanks

The temp I have mine set at is 78-79...no chemicals in the water, all tap....

They will lay eggs on bare bottom tanks or on a peace of slate.....They perfer teh slate the most.....I wouldnt worry about picking off teh unfert'ed eggs....tehy will do that themselves....jags are great parents and will tend to them....whent ehy get ready to "hatch" they pull them from the slate and pile themup.....once they become free swiming and lose there egge sack....feed teh crushed flake food and tehn bloodworms...thats what I feed mine....one they get to about 1/2 move them to another tank....parents will get aggravated and see them as food then.....When you intorduce the male into your tank...move the decor around so they can find a happy home together instead of the female having already a claim to teh tank....if they get along, you should see them digging next to the slate....then they she should start laying eggs, and the male will follow suit and fert' them....Mine are like clock work every 4 weeks after a good water change and stuffed with feeders....

Hope this helped a little...good luck....they are simple to breed....they are just free feeders to me....
