Jags in hiding

If you're bored with them, grab a few baby barbs...they're fun to watch and will help the jag settle in till he starts picking them off.

I would leave all the decor alone and just continue letting them put some size on, they will eventually adjust to you and their environment. I have 6 1" Honduran Jags housed with 6 2" H. pantostictus and my jags hold their own in a 125g and all come to the glass when they see me. How long have you had them and in what size tank?

id leave them alone mine hides from my jack dempsey...be he/she gets braver everyday just be patient

Mine did that until it got some size on him, then starting cruising around occasionally.

Now it does what it likes and cruises the whole tank all the time...

Just give it a chance and they will eventually come out of hiding...
