I am purchasing some baby jags to grow out for breeding, what is the minumum number of them I can get to ensure that there is atleast one male and one female?

6 is the min. or at least thats what every does.

With 6 fish you have a 98% chance of a pair. Each fish you take away decreases.

Anyway, you can never always get a male female pair of fish, you could have 1000 baby jags and all might be males.

I'd just get 6.

if you do the math correct ...if you get 6 its a 99.9% you have a M & F but that dose not always mean they will mate. i have over 600 Jags ranging from .5" to 12" If you get 6 you should be fine...what are you paying for them and how big are they?

buy jaguars from a reputable dealer, and by 2 that are already sexed. any 2 jags over 4"-5" of opposite sex will breed, and alot.
