jags

Keep in mind. When answering questions like this, "The majority of us" are allowing for the potential full grown size of the fish. There is no way you'll be able to keep any more than a pair of "healthy" Mana's in a 125g. IMO, there's nothing worse than looking at your fish with tattered and ripped finnage, if not worse. Just be sure to keep a divider handy to protect the weaker of the pair.

I was woundering...
I bought a male and a female at the same time, same size
But now the male is about 7" but the female only 3", they were bouth about 2" when I got them, is that normal?
I bought another female today to see if see would do better

Hope it's ok to post this here

females almost always grow at a slower pace then male jags.. even though smaller they start to have eggs at about 3.5 inches so they mature just not as big..

We have a jag, arowana, and an oscar in the 125 in my apartment.

The jag won't let the oscar anywhere near its territory unless its feeding time... the problem... the jags territory is 75% of the tank...

I can't imagin having more than 2 jags in a 125...
now i know yu got future plans, RIGHT?

As many as you want till they grow out, then thin the heard. How boring it would be to put two little Jags in a 180 by themselves. I have about a 100 in a 38 gal right now Being 98 of them are .5" Frie. These fish are common and breed like flies. If you have all that money invested in a 180 gal buy a fish that costs more than $3.49 at the local pet store. I'd pick up a Dovii or an Umbee, something harder to get. If they get too big for the tank in a couple of years you can always expand. If you realy want Jags and are from my area I'll make you a deal on my Pair of Jags.

Males grow larger overall than females so it's natural for them to put on size more quickly. Watch them at feeding time and make sure she gets her share of food. Also, they're probably at sexual maturity and the male could easily kill the female. Make sure she has a safe place in the tank that he can't get into. Good luck.
