Hello,

I have 1 male jaguar and 3 females
the male breed with one of the females (they are alone in a breeding tank 132 litre) and the eggs did not hatch and he killed the female 2 days after
then i added to him a new female full of eggs
they breed 3 days after and the egg hatched and i got hundreds of babies
they number of babies decreased to 6 in 2 weeks then i take them out of tak to a separate tank
the second day the male tried to kill the female, i rescued her and she is not good
is this normal
i thought male and female live together and breed many times

please advice

This is normal in many cases (not all) If they are fighting, put a divider in and this will keep the female safe. Just make sure it is sturdy and can't be tipped over easily.

WELCOME TO MFK

the jaguar still small in size (male is 7 cm)
i'm having a 400 liter tank that they will be moved to it when they are bigger
i've removed the female in another 100 liter tank till she is ok and full of eggs
i just wanted to know if this is normal
thank you

You have only got one problem and that is the size of the tank. I had a fully grown breeding pair and they were the only ones in a 5x2x2 they breed once a week with 1000 eggs atime with an almost 100% survival rate. Just make sure if u do try and keep the fry alive that u hav the space or are able mo move them on cos noone wants 1000 inch long jag cichlids!!! Any way get them in that 400 and they should be ok. Good Luck.:headbang2

Hello
new update
1 week i but a divider in the tank with the male in a side and the female in the other
i introduce them to each other again 2 days ago
they start dancing and the male trying to hit the female
today i found him more aggrieved and it seems it has eggs
2 hours ago i found a punch of eggs in the bottom glass and the female is hidding
the male hurt it a lot
now i removed both and each one in a separate tank (till the female is ok again)
and I'm waiting to see what will happen with the eggs
this time is more bad than the last time
the male attack the female after laying egg and even trying to kill her last time this happen after i removed the fry
i don't know what to do
if you have any idea please share it
I'll keep you updated

they do that all the time. mine breed stay together and then the female tries to eat the young so he defends them. i always have to sepparte mine. the male will keep the young around for almost a year. then slowly eats them.
