Jaguar cat

I would try and get an eclipse cat... nice cat gets about 12" and not as reclusive as a jag... i looking into getting some myself awhile ago.. and they do just hide all the time. and I agree w/ the need for some form of hide spot for it if you do, it may stress and never eat if you don't.

If it's a 5x2x2, then it's likely a 150 gallon, or 150 wide (I've been looking everywhere for this size BTW). Also, given those dimensions, you could house a Lima catfish pretty easily, and those don't hide like the Jag does.

You read my mind, I was going to say Lima Shovelnose Great cat, and not as reclusive. All my jag cat does for me is add more of a bio load, I am tempted to take him back to the LFS and see if I can get some sort of store credit or what not. I hadn't done a lot of research on them and trusted his recommendation... what he failed to say was don't buy it if it is a fish you want to see

If you make a hiding spot by say leaning a flat rock against the front glass, you will always see them - these are mine

Yea.. Probably not going to get any cats because they eat anything that they can fit in their mouths.. I have a special fish coming in a few weeks and cannot afford to let anything happen to him. I may be wrong about the tank dimensions. I don't really care about the height as long as its 24" wide. I have a 8x2x 20" high tank waiting for a stand. Pretty much going to move all the fish in this tank to the 8 footer

How big are yours, do they get stressed out like that? I might try that and take out all of the stuff he can hide down in, plus my other fish are gettin bigger and could use the swim room

If the question is for me, then these two were about 6"-7". IDK how would the stress exacty manifest itself but they appeared fine to me. Would never come out for food even over 4 month fast as long as some light was on. Had to start dropping food in their hidey-hole, then they always ate with gusto.
