jaguar catfish substrate?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
noted. has yours eaten any other fish?

mine will be the only cat in a 95 gallon hex tank. i dont think i could fit more in there as the footprint is only 25"x29". i think one will do nicely though.
Not eaten any other fish. Not a fussy eater either.

Had mine on sand for a year maybe give or take. Moved him to a tank with rocks with no effects. If you're expecting to see it all the time you might wanna stop. They grow slow ime.

I've been toying with the idea of getting more. Only issue is my gold wolf and Trachy that stop me from purchasing smaller fish. Especially the gold. Wonder if mine will come out more with more jags

no no i just want an occasional flyby. i got him today and he went straight under the log. completely swam past my brick tunnel lol

They are d/w catfish. IIRC, their natural habitat involves lots of d/w and leaves, twigs, etc. probably over mud or muddy sand.

Their beauty varies. Some are much more attractively patterned than others. Overall, they are an eye candy indeed.

had 1 years ago they are very nice cats

Share your experience, mate, if you will. Photos and vids would be a delightful bonus too.

I think 3-4 would do well in there.

They will eat whatever fits in their mouth. If not sooner than later. Their mouth is large w.r.t. their body.

They appear to grow painstakingly slow after having reached 5"-6".

Large groups will keep them less shy. Less decor and hiding spots will help with this.

Mine is out at night on rare occasion. If food is right nearby then it'll come out and eat. Both my jag cat and false jag cat.

I forgot you got the false. You are the only keeper I've ever known with one. You owe it to the community to make a thread on it and update it regularly. Pics and vids are a must. You're welcome. :)

I've got a video of my jag cat telling my Trachy off lol and I had the camera against the glass so you can hear the grunt loud and clear. They're cool cats. I may have to get more in the future for sure. Only issue I ever had was make sure the dw you have isn't to tight, cause my jag cat got stuck and almost starved to death, would've if I didn't pull it out.

well he will be sharing the turf with a clown loach and possibly another catfish. maybe a pimelodus ornatus.

ever mixed a pim and a jag?

Tanks to small for ornatus. I've been looking at the jags and black lancer on raps list.

I really want the 9" blue Botia ray has but he only does airport shipping I'm not confident in that
