Krichard, mine are not very active. Well, sometimes. One of them is alot more active, it will come out with the lights on to eat, it also moves around more when the lights are off or low. The other one does not move at all from the hiding spot, it will only move when the lights are out and only moves for food. I see them move around and eat and everything. Ive had them since they were about 3 inches. They were very shy at that time and it took me like 2-3 weeks before I seen them eat.
They eat anything I drop in the tank too. They've gotten into a few minor scraps but worked it out, they get along pretty good together. Just one time one of them beat the crap out of the other. The one that got injured was my favorite one (the more active one).
It was so bad that its fins were chewed up and it lost one of its pelvic fins and had wihte and red marks all over its body. This was brought on by fear, cause I was dooing a water change and they both freaked out and were fighting over the one hiding spot there was. Good thing was, the injured one healed. When I put it back they scrapped for a little bit and then worked it out and now are back to getting along fine.
I dotn know what their sex is, one is lighter than the other and slightly bigger too. I knw that mature males can be sexed, they will have a visible sex organ that look like a small needle by their anal fin. But I have not attempted to check them.
The trick is, dont put too many hiding spots if you want to see them. I can see them any time I want. When they get a little bigger I am thinking about taking out their cave and just adding another piece of manzanita driftwood, and may put some floating plants to add some shade. I feel that the bigger they are the less shy they become. Because mine arent as shy as they used to be.
