Jaguar cats at last

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice.

Very nice, very nice, I wish jaguar catfish were more common and a bit cheaper so more people can enjoy them.

Amazing coloration and pattern.

I have seen several threads on MFK reporting on such jaguar catfish with light base color and super cool mosaic pattern (mostly from the UK?) but none reports long term, how the fish do and grow, whether the colors hold or not, how the pattern evolves or not, etc.

I hope you'll be the first to show us this over the years to come in this thread.

Yeah i always see sample photos with that perfect patterning but yet to see any good examples on MFK until now. Those are some pretty cats. If these happen to come out and prowl during the daytime i simply have to have some.

My long-running dream has been to get enough dough to get a couple dozen of these beauties. Unfortunately, some unknown bug in my water killed my last pair, so if I try again, it will be again with a few.

I imagine that would be quite a vocal tank. I remember mine would make noises when he was fighting for hiding spots with my other cats.

The tank that would house twenty four or more jagar catfish would be quite large. Unless you were to make use of the walls and make platforms and whatnot.

Agreed... mine yells at my apple snail the entire time the snail goes from one end of the jags cave all the way to the other... the pipe turns a couple time and probably 2 feet long all together... the croaking goes on for about 15 minutes straight lol

Yeah, I am definitely curious on these Jag cats.....at first I intended for them to share the main 6ft with other species but thanks to the advice here, I am now planning for them to settle down in their own tank to observe. For now, it seems that the little one with the light base yellow mosaic pattern has a little more curious personality, I will catch it patrolling once dim but once the sun is up, it goes into hiding with the other... I sure hope it keeps its light base yellow though!
I will share more pics once they have moved from the holding container.
