So I’ve a pair of Jaguar cichlid and they both readily accept pellets. But I’ve ran out of pelleted food and I’ve got a tight schedule for a week so I don’t think I’ll be able to get a new pack of pellets for them. Although I’ve been feeding prawns and the female goes crazy behind it but the male won’t it touch it. The male has been starving since 2 days, how long before he starts to accept it.
I used to feed them Hikari Cichlid Gold plus. And I have a snakehead in there too (he only accepts prawns) just putting it out there if it might help to answer my question better. Thanks

Alright thanks. But I still would like to know by when is it likely that a jag starts to get hungry and accept other foods

It all depends on size, temperature, and type of food being offered (if it knows that it is food). Some fish aren't picky, while others become picky if they know they can wait long enough to get their desired food. It could take as long as a month, while others may only take a few days. On rare occasions, some species will just starve to death if not offered their desired food.

3 days is about when their digestive system is likely empty, this doesn't necessarily mean they are hungry.
