I just woke up this morning and i couldn't see my JAGUAR Cichlid, i had a mini heart attack, but i found that he was hiding the pot.
For some unknown reason he looks very terrified and scared tho he is the king of the tank.
He could see the food but would hesitate to come and grab them, he would eat like 1-2 pellets and quickly ran to his pot to hide.
Any idea guys? he wasn't like this!! Normally he would be right in front of the glass begging for food!! :(

He may have been knocked out of his top dog spot and is stressed from it

What are the tankmates.? Size of jag?crazy mikes post is a definite possibility. Hierarchy of a tank can and will change over time.I would suggest dimming your tank lights and try to reduce his stres as much as possible, keep an eye out for bullying from other fish.and sometimes jags will just sulk.they have a lot of personality and it will show.

Nope he is still the top dog. Theres 3 red devils and a buttikoferi as tankmates, the jag always ruled and still rules.
Devils are 3"
Butti 5.5"
Jaguar 6"
The butti came close to the pot and the jag chased it away. Devils got no chance, they are too small, they always run from the jag

My money is the butti bullied him there and that's where the jag feels safe because there's only one entrance and easily defended.so he stays there, never underestimate a butti they can be down right nasty, what size tank?

i know buttis are killers, im always keeping an eye on him but the butti never fought back at the jaguar.
The jag always chase him away and make him know his place!! The same happened this after noon, the butti tried to go near the pot, the jag got out of the pot and would chase him away and return to hiding. WTH?? No way the butti bullied him!! i always keep an eye of them.

Sounds like he has claimed that pot and feels safest there. Im sure he will be swimming around the tank in no time. May want to keep the lights off and watch for activity then.

Lights are always usually off, Yes that pot was always his territory. But he had never hide like that, he looks terrified and lost. :S
Actually it was yesterday morning, its already 2 days and he is still like that. Maybe i should give him time :)

Well it's only 6 inches nothing to be worried about right now. Its young and small now if it was a full grown 12+ individual then I'd be worried. My money is on the butti picking on him. Unless you are watching them every minute you can miss bullying.
