You're welcome... I love these sex my jag threads ...The problem with Jags is that most all look like females until they hit jag puberty..which as already mentioned by others is around 6 inches.. Yours is displaying a lot of black... Which may be just the way he is or maybe he's on a stress /attack /defense mode..... The one I took a pic of at the LFS kept squaring off against a red devil his size that was ruling a very large display tank they were in...That black bar between the eyes yours has my male gets that when I bother him when I clean algae from his tank... So I'm guessing with the others you have in there with him yours is not the alpha of the tank that he wants to be yet... Of course the only 100 percent for sure way to sex a fish is to vent it...on males it would look more like your pinky and on females like your thumb...you're the best judge since you see your fish everyday.. Just got to know what to look for...happy I could help and glad it looks like you are going to have what you wanted....

Thanks! You are correct he is definitely not the boss of the tank. His is in there with a Rose Queen (alpha) and a midas (second in command) and Jerry my Jag pulls up the rear. It is perfect though because I know if he were the same size as them he would be the boss and probably a terror! Don't let his coloration fool you though, he is out and about frequently and is never afraid to be in the frey during feeding time. I do have to say I like his old colors better. As you can see in my initial pictures posted. But either way hes a personality. BTW you Jag is spectacular. Love the spots with the light underneath. brings out the pattern.
