Jaguar cichlid sex/potential names?

Yeah, I agree it seems to be a male. I had friend who had a male Jaguar and this fish looks similar to how he looked when at his smaller size, so it most likely is a male from what I've seen. I don't know why, but for possible names maybe Tim? When I looked at him and was faced with the question that's what came to mind....

Haha, the girlfriend decided to name him Cheetah, pretty ironic if you ask me

Depends on where you got him from. If it's from a reputable source then they should know but if you got it from a lfs then it can be from anywhere.
