My local petsmart has jaguar cichlids! i was perusing the fish section and then i did a double take when i saw a tank with tiny jags in it! how big of a tank would a full grown one of these need? i really want one:headbang2

i dont have one but seeing as they grow to 14-16 inches id say at the very least a 180 gallon but probablly bigger in the long run

dont have personal experience with these guys but i think they need at least a 100, that cool your petsmart has them though mine never has anything remotely that cool GOOD LUCK if you decide to get one and hopefully someone with personal experience can chime in with more advice, if i had the room for an extra tank i think it would make awesome tank to have a pair by themselves :)

haha love how we all posted at the same time lol

A 75 gal. would be good for a few years. They can grow to 12"+, so a 125 would probably suit him at some point. I have a 12" Jag in a 180 CA community along with a breeding pair of Midas, a large Pike, a 6" Dovii and others. He's the largest in the tank and plays the role of 'peace keeper'.

ok then yeah i would do either a 125 or 150 and get several babies grow them out together until they pair and then find homes for the others before they are killed, get 180 if possible thats gona be an awesome tank if you do it make sure to post pics :)

i think thats a true parrot cichlid? am i right golcondorus? theyr really cool fish
