as above... 5x2x2 is a happy medium.. could do a pair in a 180

I kept my male in a 90 gallon till he hit about a foot then it was def time for a 125. If you have ever seen a fully grown male jag they get big and bulky!! so my vote goes for a 125 gallon.

You can usually tell sex by females will have more solid bars with less spots and males will have a lot of spots with broken up bars but you will have to look at pics of male and female to understand what I'm talking about lol. You might be able to do a single female in a 75.

+1... 75 would be the absolute minimum for a female and you'd probably want at least a 125 for a male. If it was by itself you could probably keep a male in a 75 comfortably for 12-18 months. Another accurate way to sex them without venting is their overall shape. Once they get to be around 5-6", the females belly will be more rounded when viewing the fish from the side... males belly will be much more straight from pelvic fin to tail, if that makes sense. That seems to be the easiest way for me to tell once they got some size on them.
