To an inexperienced jaguar keeper such as myself, I'd say that's 2 females, but definitely wait for others to chime in.

They both appear to be female managuense. And as pointed out, the nurturing experience would explain why both fish are guarding the eggs.
If AM says so believe him he has that huge male.See if somebody will trade you for a male in your area
So today i spotted the 2 "parrents" defending 20-30 fry in the corner of the aquarium... So its defintly a male and a female! 
im very happy with the fry.. exept for all thoose white eggs. some most have survived.

They are both Defending the eggs?? and i saw when they were breeding,, it would be a little weird if i got 2 females laying eggs at the same rock at the same time
I had two females lay eggs right next to each other. They defended the eggs like normal showing no aggression towards each other. And yes, it was weird:what:
