are they slow growers????? all my other cichlids have grown like weeds but not this one so much. How long should it take in good conditions for a jag to grow from about 3"-12". I think mine is growing slower then normal which is alarming me.... maybe I bought one thatwas stunted in a small tank. How fast did yours grow???

I would be interested as well as I have 2 Juvi's in a GO Tank.

I had a male Jaguar grow from 2" to 13" in a little under 2 years. He was in a single specimen tank that was cleaned regulary and fed heavily.

He was raised in an 80 gallon until he reached around 7-8" then he was moved into a 125. I feed him a variety of dry food but one food that seem to really get him growing was nightcrawlers.

jags are pretty fast growers, when young at least 1" per month, mine are still growing fast at 12", gaining about 1" every 2 months

Hm, mine seems to grow slow, I see my texas growing alot faster, maybe my jag hasnt hit a growth spurt yet?

Ive heard Beef Heart is where its at for bulking up your fish. I actually just started my JD and Ahli on it tonight. If I start to notice a big difference Ill definatly let you know.

if by ahli you mean blue ahli (african cichlid) I wouldn't feed him beefheart.... blu ahli are very sensitive to food and are actually herbivores and meat can kill them. I killed an entire dozen of blue ahli's not knowing this. I fed african cichlid pellets and believe it or not within a week they were all dead. I was so lost I couldn't figure it out. PH was stable, ammo, nitrite and trate were all prime. There were no signs of illness...... you just never expect the food i guess. Don't learn the way I did.
