I was wondering what would be an ok tankmate for a Jaguar or a Dovii. I have a 380g tank and will be stocking it with a 7-8" C. Ocellaris, 7" RTC, and and 9" RTCxTSN. The two cats will eventually be moved into an indoor pond once its built. We also plan on getting either another C. Ocellaris, Cichla Temensis, or and Azul Pbass.

Do you think one of these would get along ok with our other fish? Or do you have any other suggestions for another fish that looks like a Jag.

My girl is into that whole Jag look...lol

welcom to mfk. out of the 2 dovii are known to be alot more aggressive and alot downright killers on the other hand jags seem to be more terratorial meaning as long as the fish doesnt try to force its way into the jags territory then it should be ok. you will find alot more people mix jags with other fish then dovii due to this reason.

yeah you will def have more luck with a jag, unless you want it to be a one fish tank i would stay away from dovii but you should be able to mix a nice big male jag in that tank with no problems, WELCOME TO MFK and good luck with those cats, i would LOVE to have me a rtc or tsn if only they didnt get so frikin MONSTER lol

Thank you, Do you think that there would be a territory issue if the tank is 10' long, 2 1/2' wide, 2' and a few in. tall? I just want to make sure the rest of my fish won't suffer from a new addition.

the tank being that big would be even more of a welcome to the jag. i dont see any problems.

Thank you, My girlfriend will be glad to hear that. I just had one question. How do you distinguish a male from a female Jag? I don't know very much about them yet but I've started some research since we have somewhat decided on getting it.

IMO jags mellow out a great deal in decent sized tanks. I don't foresee any problems.

almost impossible to sex at small size. you really need to grow a jag out to 5--6 inches. alot of people have there own way of sexing them. mine is going by the tailfin. male jags tend to have more speckling on the tail fin then the females.

Thank you, does anyone know about haw fast Jags grow? and would it be better to get him at a closer size to our fish or to put him in a tank by himself and grow him out?

get one large enough that your fish cant eat it and put him in and let him grow up with your current fish.
