WELCOME TO MFK!!

GREAT looking pair!

from cichlid-forum.com:

The are found from South Mexico to Costa-Rica, " with the northerly specimens typically more speckled and the southern color morphs being more mottled with larger sized, dark spotted areas."

There are no actual types of jags but the wild caught ones, that are often named after the rivers they are found in, all jags have different pattern. Maybe you where confused by other parachromis species such as:
Friedrichtschtalli
Loisellei
Dovii
Motaguense
"La Ceiba".

by the way, that is a ton of fry!

nice pair.

:welcome:
really nice pair you have there and wow that is a friggin' ton of fry. like was said, there really aren't types unless they're wild caught.

thanks a lot guys. They breed like crazy every 45 days produsing a huze amound of fry.I can not say i can save alot fry, about 100 every time.Usually the bigger and the most agrresive.I just leave them with the pair. The main problem is that the pump in my sump has very big flow rate 1600gal/h making a big curent in the aquarium. I put a sponge where the water comes in, but any fry cut there, emediatly dies. Any help here.O and by the way i will apresiate some more comends about my jag pair and their origin. THANGS

look like Motaguense to me

Are you serious or cracking a joke?

As far as types go yes there are Different VARIANTS of jag. There are Nicaraguan which are brighter gold with lots of blue in most cases all fins are almost entirely blue.

Then Honduran Jags have alot of red sheen to them with darker blue and gold fins.

Then There is the Gold Morph which is obvious the fish is entirely gold color with very little to no blue or any other color to it. Typically the black spotting is spaced further out as well.

The there is Xanthic which is basically a white jag with yellow spotting instead of black.

Yours seems to be just a run of the mill jag meaning tank born and raised but a very nice one at that. Definately cool body shape.
Did you get them from a Local fish store or what?
