Yeah, as some of you know I have a jag. I have had him for about two and a half months now and he's about 6.5-7 inches long. But I have been saying that he is in a 75 gallon, I lied and he is in a 35 gallon, I had to borrow my money to my brother (long story) when I got him and I havn't got all of it back. Plus I know I shouldn't have bought him before I had his tank all set up... So as of now he is in the 35 gallon but I will be getting him a 75 gallon when I get my money back.

Ok and I have a question, is a 75 gallon big enough for a male jag (still not sure of sex yet)? Because if it isn't I would sell him and get a different fish that would be able to thrive in a 75 gallon, like a green terror or a pike...

Thanks
Mike

Keep that jag man. And if 75gallon is the only tank you can house that jag, it should be fine for a very time, if not for life.
But for the meantime feed the jag maybe once every other day or less and do more waterchanges.
BTW, check craigslist.org and ebay for used tank. There is always some crazy deals there.
Goodluck.

imo opinion, you will need a 125 for a male, a full grown male can't thrive in a 75 gal, i'm mean have you ever seen a 15" jag in a 75, i have and it's very cramped, so you may be in trouble

if it is indeed a male, than sell it, if you can't upgrade later

How can I tell?

If its the pic in your avatar, then its more likely a male. If not post a pic, then will tell you if its a male.
Dude, if you really want that jag (male or female) and can only house it in a 75gallon. I would keep it. The reason is not all jag will reach 15" or bigger. And to get that size it will take many years and many things could happen then. More likely you can find a bigger tank then.
Hell, people in this in forum and others keep african tiger fish which can grow to 3' to 5' and other monsterous fish like red tail cat, arapima gigas, which is no aquarium fish, unless you have your own lake!!!! But all you hear from other members and phrases on how nice and unique the fish fish.
Pathetic aint it ????

the avatar is not his fish, and it is sad that people keep fish like that, if you can't provide a home in which a fish can accually thrive (not just live) in, is a must in my opinion, if you want to keep a jag, in a 75, do what you want, but you asked for advice and i gave it

Like I said my advice to him is to keep the jag. No fish will grow overnight to 15" and a lot of changes could happen in several years.
If I gave up on my midas that I kept in a 50gallon tank over a year ago. I would surely felt even worst thinking it could end up in some kids 10 gallon tank. Which btw, this midas is over 12" now and has his own 125gallon tank.
Also, I have a 8" male dovii that is housed in a 75gallon tank and Im surely will not give him up bec. he need his 200 gallon for life tank, which I plan on getting him his own 300gallon in a few year or so.

Just my 2c.

You can keep one in a 75 while it may be unethical it's your call. The fish will have turn around room but a 125g is ideal. If you like the fish give it the extra 2ft. Probably score a 125 for a little extra than a 75g.
